Susan R. Noel's Biography
Susan was born to native Kentuckians and moved to Lexington after graduating from college. Susan earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1979 from Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Illinois. Her nursing career began at the University of Kentucky. She worked there for over the 16 years in general pediatric care, in pediatric intensive care, in neonatal intensive care, and in the emergency room. She has taught nursing students at the University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University. Susan earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 1985 from the University of Kentucky. She completed post-graduate certification for Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 1995 at the University of Kentucky and certification for Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in 2000 at the University of Louisville.
Susan began her career as a nurse practitioner at the University of Kentucky Children's Clinic in 1995. She has worked with children of all ages, with a special emphasis on adolescent care. She became actively involved with the Kentucky Free Clinic Association while working at the Family Care Center.
In 2004, Susan joined Dr. Cameron S. Schaeffer to begin work as a pediatric urology nurse practitioner. As the Director of the "I'm Dry! Children's Continence Center," Susan assists children and their families develop a plan for bowel and bladder control to achieve dry days and dry nights. Achieving continence builds self-esteem and helps children become more socially active and feel in control of their bodies. Her goal has always been to help children and families learn more about their health to live happier and more productive lives.
